My sky and sea-scapes are free from structures or landmarks. Without limit the work becomes a fluid movement of light, air and water, passing through and around one another in a timeless space. Here, the past, present and future can co-exist allowing us to extend beyond our usually framework and question what is one’s self and what is other. I paint in oils, slowly building up thin and translucent layers, each layer leaving traces of the layer beneath. This process is an integral part of my work allowing the slow build-up of to create movement within the image. I use photographs only as an occasional reference, painting mostly from memory. Visual accuracy is not the aim, but rather a reference to thought, memory and possibilities.
